SMK Fomra Achievers Award 2013

The Shree Motilal Kanhaiyalal Fomra Institute of Technology, popularly known as SMK Fomra Institute of Technology, Kelambakkam, honored 50 students from various schools across the state in a red carpet event “SMK Fomra Achievers Award 2013” organized at its campus in Thaiyur near Kelambakkam.


The 50 students were awarded with gold coins and scholarship voucher of SMK Fomra Institute worth Rs. 70000 each! Additionally special Achievers Awards was conferred to the top three deserving students.

Master G. Kishore from Sri Sankara Vidhyalaya was awarded as the topper of the SMK Fomra achiever award for the year 2013 with 199.25 cut off and centum in Maths and Chemistry. Ms.Uma Bharathi, and S. Preethi from SRDF Vivekananda Vidhyalaya, Chormpet were awarded as second and third toppers who scored 199.25 and 199 cut off respectively.


Both secured centum in Maths while Preethi also scored a centum in Chemistry. The trophies were given away by distinguished professors Dr. R. Velraj (Director of Institute of Energy Studies, Anna University, Chennai), Dr. A Kannan ( Professor and Head, Department of IST, Anna University, Chennai) who were the chief guests for the day along with Shri. Srikumar Fomra, the correspondent of SMK Fomra Institute of Technology. Congratulating the young achievers in his speech, Dr. R. Velraj said, “There may be 560 engineering colleges in the state but only a handful of them actually have the necessary infrastructure and experienced faculty members required to train young students into qualified engineers. I see the management at SMKFIT creating an academically sturdy platform with quality education and faculty members with many doctorates on board for students who want to truly learn engineering and not just become engineering graduates on paper." Dr. A. Kannan advised the students saying “It doesn’t matter which field of engineering you select but what matters is how well you learn the basics. Career opportunities are ample in every field of engineering, but only those who are consistent in their academic performance and who learn and understand the basic science behind each engineering algorithms make their mark on the field.


Addressing the gathering in his presidential speech Shri. Srikumar Fomra, Correspondent, SMK Fomra Institute of Technology said, “For past 12 years Fomra Institute has been working to give the best of education possible for the students who join our college, The SMK Fomra Achiever’s award is a new initiative by our college to recognize the students who have performed outstandingly in their 12th board exams. We have now decided to make this as our annual event and reward more and more students every year.”


A proud parent of one of the achiever came forward to share his gratitude and said, “SMK Fomra Achiever’s award is a very noble initiative taken by the institute and is surely going to motivate many more students to study harder in their 12th std to make sure they win this high recognition from the institute. We wish this college a very best in its future endeavors.” The top 50 achievers were selected from the hundreds of students who had registered on before May 29th, 2013 based on their PCM cutoff, total marks, track record and contribution at state / national level.


This year, The Hindu Education plus was the print partners for the event. The college believes in rewarding students who show academic skill and promise and hence offers full and partial scholarships to students who have scored 80% and above in their 12th board exam results.
